Schedule conflicts rate high on association agenda.

The scheduling of annual conference among the leading telecomm users associations present at the sixth annual meeting of TAC (Telecomm Associations Council) continues to rank as one of the essential and vital agenda items.

In fact, one of the reasons for the formation of the TAC some nine years ago was to help eliminate conflicting annual conference dates. By doing so, not only was the association community better served, but just as important, the vendor/supplier community benefitted as well.

Attendance, quality of vendor representation at the booths and at conference seminars, vendor sponsorship of conference events, and revenues which were generated from booth space sales all showed improvement as conference scheduling was agreed upon by the nine assocations which make up TAC. They represent 90% of the worldwide telecomm user association community (ACUTA, CBTA, CMA, ENTELEC, ICA, INTUG, MTC, SETA, TCA). Also attending the recent TAC meeting were PTC (Pacific Telecomm Council), TMA-UK, and the NASTD (National Association of State Telecomm Directors).

Revenues from TAC members' booth exhibit sales have been invested in education of the membership, sponsorship of scholarships, and seed money for telecomm programs at more than 40 leading universities. There are many other similar programs which space does not permit me to mention.

I'm devoting this month's column to emphasizing this continuing effort, within both the association and vendor communities, to avoid scheduling annual conferences on the same dates.

Commercial exhibitors, likewise, would do well to avoid head to head meeting dates with major user groups or other commercial expositions.

Feel free to make copies of this conference schedule or request reprints by contacting the publisher. Help to spread the word.
