Scared of trade unions; VIEWS.

IT is no surprise that 200 foreign workers have been imported into Birmingham to renovate the traffic tunnels we have come to rely on.

However, Birmingham City Council is responsible for the actions of their sub-contractors and it was the exposure in the Mail that caused it to warn AMEY to employ local workers on the next phase of the tunnel restoration.

Labour governments and councils fear the trade union movement as a threat to their political power, which is why the last Labour government refused to repeat any of the Thatcher antitrade union laws.

Ed Miliband is only too happy for EU laws to flood Britain with cheap imported labour, the effect of which will be to weaken trade union power further. The Soviet Union lasted only 70 years. I can't see the European Union lasting that long.
