GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001

ScanSource (Nasdaq: SCSC), North America's leading distributor of specialty technology products, announced today that it has been named to the newly reconstituted Russell 2000 Index.

ScanSource distributes automatic data capture, point-of-sale and wireless products, as well as voice, data and converged communications equipment through its sales unit, Catalyst Telecom.

The Russell 2000 Index is one of the most widely recognized stock indices for small-cap companies and is compiled annually by the Frank Russell Company based solely on market capitalization. The index is re-balanced yearly to provide a truer reflection of stock market activity and performance, and is used by the financial community as a benchmark for investment consideration. The Frank Russell Company ranks the largest 3,000 public U.S. companies, with the largest 1,000 making up the Russell 1000 and the remaining companies comprising the Russell 2000.

"We're pleased to be included in this year's Russell 2000 Index based on our solid growth and consistent financial performance," said Mike Baur, ScanSource's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to added visibility among members of the financial community as a result of our inclusion in the index. The ranking and our growth affirms our commitment to empowering solution providers to thrive in the markets we serve, and we pledge to remain focused on that mission."
