Scammers will stop at nothing to con OAPs.

Bogus crooks used a range of cruel scams to steal tens of thousands of pounds from Renfrewshire pensioners in the last 12 months, police have revealed.

As part of our Protect Our Pensioners campaign, cops on the frontline today outline the types of crimes committed by thieves.

Inspector Tracy Harkins, from Paisley's community policing team, said their methods are always evolving.

She said: "Sadly, there are criminals out there who think it's acceptable to target the most vulnerable people in our society.

"We deal with a wide variety of bogus-type crimes where pensioners are the targets."

She advised local pensioners: "If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't."
