SCAMMERS often take advantage of certain situations, such as it being Christmas, tax return time and the like.

The scammers I've heard about this week took advantage of the heatwave we had a few weeks ago.

Numerous people in Wakefield were visited at home by two scammers calling themselves Yorkshire Air Cooling Rentals.

They offered to rent out portable air conditioning units for PS20 per week and could deliver the next day.

The catch? you had to pay a PS100 deposit there and then.

And guess what? Many did and never saw the air conditioning units or their deposit money again.
