An unusual slip-stitch pattern worked in two colors creates a stunning fabric for this unisex scarf.The high-relief design on its right side resembles stonework on Scalloway Castle, in the former capital of the Shetland Islands, or jagged rocks along Shetland shores.

Finished Size 7 3/4" wide and
67" long.

Yarn Patons Classic Wool
Worsted (100% wool;
210 yd [192 m]/3V4 oz [100 g]):
#77118 blue heather (MC)
and #00224 grey mix (CC),
2 balls each. Yarn distributed
by Spinrite.

Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm).
Adjust needle size if necessary
to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Tapestry needle.

Gauge 27 sts and 34 rows =
4" in charted patt.

* Do not break yarn at color
changes. Carry unused color
up side of work until it is needed
again. Bring new color under
color just used.

* Slip stitches purlwise.

With MC, CO 53 sts. Work Rows 1
and 2 of Rib chart 4 times. Join CC
(see Notes). Work Rows 1-4 of Slip
Stitch chart until piece measures
about 66" from CO, ending with
Row 2 of chart. Break CC. With MC,
work Rows 1 and 2 of Rib chart
4 times. BO all sts in patt.
