Savile victims total 'could double'.

THE number of victims who fell prey to Jimmy Savile could double, with current figures "a mere drop in the ocean", a child protection expert has warned.

Mark Williams-Thomas, who presented the ITV documentary that first exposed Savile as a dangerous sexual predator, said he could have targeted hundreds more victims, than the 450 currently being investigated, in his near six decades of abuse. He said: "For anybody who works in this area the sheer scale is quite shocking. When you deal with sex offenders they are quite specific in their targeting.

What is different with Savile is that there's no specific target in terms of ages or sexes. He ranged from male to female, children to adults. It's truly shocking.

PERVERT: Saville "The offence at the last Top Of The Pops was when he was 79 years old and he was still offending. There could be at least double the number of potential victims, it's a drop in the ocean."

More than 50 of Jimmy Savile's sex abuse victims are set to seek compensation from the BBC, the NHS, the disgraced TV presenter's estate and other organisations.

The full scale of the late DJ's 54-year campaign of abuse revealed that among his victims were an eight-year-old boy and seriously ill children.

Branded one of the UK's most prolific known sexual predators, Savile now has 214 criminal offences, spanning the breadth of the UK, recorded against his name - including 34 rapes.
