Saudi teacher recruits to undergo medical checks.
"The medical check has now become a criterion in appointing teachers," education ministry sources told the daily. "All those who have severe physical restrictions that do not allow them to write or to walk without assistance will not be recruited." Applicants who have severe blood pressure or chronic heart conditions will also be ruled out of teaching positions, the sources said.
"The ministry reserves the right to cancel the recruitment of male and female teachers in case there are medical or security issues or during the probation period of one year," the sources said.
The education ministry said that it was appointing 6,305 teachers based on the merit system, adding that they had all been approved by the civil service ministry. Teachers will sit for personal interviews and those who do not show up or do not take up their positions within 15 days of their appointment will be replaced, the ministry said.
