After almost 80 years of waiting, a Saudi man is finally marrying his first love, local press reported Wednesday.
Mohamed Eid, 97, has 42 children and grandchildren but has never forgotten his first love. He had proposed to the woman he loved when he was young, but was rejected because of a custom in her tribe that prohibited her from marrying anyone but a cousin, the London-based al-Hayat reported Wednesday.
After Eid's two wives died, he felt lonely and started looking for another wife. He then remembered the woman he loved in his youth and proposed to her.
The bride, 90, has been married six times before. Four of her husbands divorced her and the other two passed away. She remains childless.
The groom will set a date for the unprecedented wedding ceremony, which friends from their youth, though few now, promised to attend.
