Saudi firefighter praised for bravery.

Manama: A Saudi Civil Defence officer has been praised for his courage and bravery after he saved a residential area from a catastrophe by jumping into a tanker truck on fire and driving away from tanks filled with diesel.

According to Civil Defence Spokesperson Nayef Al Shareef, a fire broke out on Saturday at around 7 pm at a bus station.

The fire caught a tanker parked near tanks with a capacity for 15,000 litres of diesel each.

Alarmed by the ominously looming tragedy, witnesses called the Civil Defence, local news site Sabq reported on Sunday.

Assessing the situation, Civil Defence Serviceman Ayedh Al Harithi jumped into the tanker truck despite the dangers and drove it away from the tanks, and allowing his colleagues to put out the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the Civil Defense is still investigating the incident.
