Saudi Readymix completes CMA job.

Saudi Readymix has completed a day and a half of continuous pouring of readymix concrete into a 4.5 m deep raft foundation of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) Tower at the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. Saudi Readymix supplied 11,500 cu m of readymix concrete in a continuous flow of mobile truck mixers arriving on site at an average of one every 90 seconds. The company utilised seven of its factories located in different areas in Riyadh, including its on-site factory at the King Abdullah Financial District project site. As many as 150 truck mixers were mobilised to handle the pouring. Although the estimated time to execute the task was 42 hours, it was completed smoothly and in only 36 hours.

The challenge "This was one of the most challenging jobs that we have handled at Saudi Readymix, supplying the required amount of concrete in one continuous pour," said Khalid Baghdadi, managing director, Saudi Readymix. "To be frank, the volume of the pour was not the issue, we had poured similar foundations in the past; the challenge was the complexity of the concrete mix and the special materials that had to be used, let alone the need to use large quantities of ice to deliver concrete at very low temperatures. This wouldn't have been achieved without the hard work, commitment, cooperation and dedication of all the involved stakeholders, namely the CMA team, Saudi Bin Laden Group and Al Omraniah & Associates, who worked round the clock and provided all the support needed for the execution process." Mohammed Shaheen, Saudi Readymix's general manager in the Central Region, said the company started working on the project almost 12 months prior to execution day. "This enabled our team to come up with the optimum concrete mix design after running several tests to ensure its compliance to requirements. We are proud to highlight that the ingredients used for this special concrete mixture were mostly produced from recycled materials which makes the final product an environment-friendly concrete. This is the first time that this unique concrete mixture has been utilised in Saudi Arabia," said Shaheen. Saudi Readymix operates 30 factories in the kingdom. The company, over the past 30 years, has developed its capabilities to meet the strict and challenging concrete requirements and specifications of all small, large and mega projects. Since its establishment, Saudi Readymix has worked on an impressive array of prestigious projects for both the public and private sectors. Most of the company's stations are officially approved as suppliers to major governmental and industrial authorities such as Saudi Aramco, SEC, Sabic, the Royal Commission and MoDA. The company's network of plants and stations are strategically located throughout the kingdom to cover all major commercial and industrial areas including Dammam, Sihat, Aziziyah, Hofuf, Jubail, Khafji, Khursaniyah, Riyadh North, Riyadh South, Riyadh West, Al-Kharj, Jeddah North, Jeddah South, Jeddah Briman, Makkah, Medina, Yanbu and Rabigh.
