An Axiom Mobile consortium has been selected for a mobile virtual network operator, or MVNO, license in Saudi Arabia, which will enable it to provide mobile telecommunications services across the kingdom, according to the Web site of the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission, or CITC.

The company is now entering the final phase of the process with the CITC.

"It is a huge honour to be selected for an MVNO licence. The CITC has shown admirable vision in expanding and ramping up the competiveness of the Saudi telecoms market, and we are proud to get the opportunity to help make a difference," Axiom Telecom CEO and founder Faisal Al Bannai said.

The consortium is likely to benefit from Axiom Telecom's retail presence across Saudi Arabia, which includes 120 branches and selling points.
