A man was chased across Huddersfield ring road after stealing a satellite navigation system from a lorry.

The thief smashed a window on an orange car transporter parked at Viaduct Street, near the Tesco supermarket, in Huddersfield town centre, shortly after 2pm on Wednesday.

He grabbed the pounds 380 Tom Tom Go system and ran away.

A passer-by saw him and gave chase, but lost him close to the Halfords store near the end of Bradford Road.

The thief was white, 5ft 6in tall and scruffy with light brown hair. He wore a dark blue jumper with white stripes down the sleeves, and dark blue trousers.

* A teenage thief with a limp stole a satellite navigation system from a car in the Maplin Avenue area of Salendine Nook at 1am on Wednesday.

He was aged 15 to 18 and wore a dark hooded tracksuit.
