Sarajevo Airport increases number of passengers over the last ten years.

Sarajevo International Airport serviced a total of 58,397 passengers in January this year, which is an increase of nine percent compared to the same month in 2019.

'This data indicates that passenger traffic growth recorded by Sarajevo International Airport over the past few years is likely to continue in 2020,' said Spokeswoman of the Sarajevo International Airport Sanja Bagaric for FENA.

She added that for the last ten years, Sarajevo International Airport has seen continuous growth in all fields, especially when it comes to number of passengers.

'We had the most significant passenger traffic growth in 2017 and 2013. In both years, traffic growth was more than 14 percent over the previous year. By comparison, the number of passengers in 2019 is up 72 percent from 2013 and 61 percent higher than in 2014,' Bagaric said.

She stressed that Sarajevo International Airport will continue to actively work on attracting new airlines and establishing new lines, and the preconditions for further growth are being met through the accelerated expansion of the terminal building, which will have the capacity to service two million passengers annually.

In 2019, 1,143,680 passengers passed through Sarajevo International Airport, which is nine percent more than in 2018.

The company said that the number of realized air operations in 2019 was 13.671, and the physical volume of cargo was 2.523.565 kg.

The millionth passenger was recorded this year at the end of October, even a month and a half earlier than in 2018, when the millionth passenger was first registered at Sarajevo International Airport, said Bagaric.
