Sarah Siddons dynasty could have more cause for celebration; BIG WEEKEND FOR ... Saturday round-up of studs, stallions and mares likely to be making the headlines around the world.

Byline: Martin Stevens

SARAH SIDDONS was one of the best fillies in training in 1976, winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Yorkshire Oaks, and she proved an ace in the breeding shed too.

The daughter of Le Levanstell produced ten winners, three at stakes level, headed by Irish Oaks heroine Princess Pati who herself produced Cambridgeshire winner Pasternak.

The family trees of some top racemares dwindle to little, but not Sarah Siddons': her first foal, the unraced mare Gertrude Lawrence, set the tone when producing the Listed scorer Lady Ambassador, who in turn foaled three stakes winners including Leggera.

Among Sarah Siddons' other stakes-winning descendants are Athlumney Lady and Puncher Clynch, along with the useful jumpers Self Defense and Upgrade.

This weekend could give the Sarah Siddons dynasty even more success as The Reaper, a grandson of Athlumney Lady, is in today's Woodlands Stakes at Naas (3.40) and her great-great grandson Excelebration is set to make his first start for Aidan O'Brien in tomorrow's Gladness Stakes at the Curragh (4.20).

In today's Spring Cup at Newbury (3.45) Excelebration's half-brother Mull Of Killough appears to hold a leading chance, having finished second in the Lincoln.

Another for Newsells? NEWSELLS PARK STUD bred a bumper eight stakes winners last year - a tough feat to repeat. However, on Tuesday it got its first on the board for 2012, Waldlerche in the Prix Penelope, and today it has a squeak of another with Rebellious Guest in the Greenham Stakes (3.10).

Newsells bred Rebellious Guest in partnership with Equity Bloodstock out of the unraced Desert Sun mare Marisa, also dam of Woodcote Stakes scorer Smokey Storm and smart sprinter Di Stefano. Pursuit Of Passion, Marisa's four-year-old filly by Pastoral Pursuits, bids to shed her maiden tag at Thirsk today (2.40).

Zamindar chances ZAMINDAR enjoyed a fantastic year in 2007 with Darjina winning the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Zarkava hinting at her future brilliance in the Prix Marcel Boussac.

We can now see the results of the better chances given to Zamindar in the wake of that success and he has two three-year-olds with chances of stakes success this weekend. Villeneuve, out of a daughter of her breeder Gary Middlebrook's star mare Riberac, has an outsider's chance in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes (2.35), while Lycidas, a half-sister to Lady Marian, runs in the Group 3 Dr Busch Memorial at Krefeld tomorrow (3.30).

For good measure, Zamindar's four-year-old daughter Zaminast, a half-sister to Sunday's Heritage Stakes winner Famous Name, runs in tomorrow's Alleged Stakes at the Curragh (2.50). Martin Stevens
