Sapporo selects Team One for draft account

Sapporo U.S.A., Inc. has assigned Team One Advertising to handle its draft beer account nationwide. The Sapporo Draft selection brings Team One's 1990 new business gains to $22 million.

"We chose Team One because their understanding of consumers of premium products fits very well with our premium beer," said Yoshi Mochida, Sapporo U.S.A.

Team One's creative for Sapporo Draft will consist of outdoor boards and radio commercials with the new tag line: "You've got enough to think about. We'll take care of the beer." The advertising will begin in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.

"We approached Sapporo Draft's creative with the basic idea that it was a thinking person's beer," said Tom Cordner, Team One's executive creative vice president. "While the overall beer market is very crowded, premium beer is a different kind of product. Since it's a beer for casual entertaining and special occasions, it involves an intelligent choice, leading us to our current tagline."
