TOLUCA celebrate their centenary next year - but it won't be as reigning champions of the Copa Libertadores.
The Mexican aces are heading out of this year's tournament following a 4-0 thumping at Sao Paulo last Thursday in the first leg of the first knockout round.
They qualified with far more style and aplomb than their Brazilian opponents, but they were torn apart at the Murumbi and now it's all about damage limitation.
The shock of that loss in Sao Paulo coupled with terrible domestic form - defeat by Cruz Azul on Sunday means they are effectively out of the race for the clausura playoffs - led coach Jose Cardozo to announce he's quitting at the end of the season.
And they've got injuries galore plus a suspension for winger Ernesto Vega, sent off in Brazil.
So The Peppers would love to sign off with a win, and having beaten Gremio and San Lorenzo on home soil during qualifying they are strong on their own patch. But will their hearts really be in it? Sao Paulo have been rock solid on the road with a quartet of 1-1 draws, the first of those in prequalifying, the last at The Strongest when they needed to avoid defeat to make it into the last 16.
Having achieved the stalemate they had required in La Paz, Edgardo Bauza's men are more than capable of doing likewise in Toluca.
