Banco Santander SA (NYSE: STD) (SAN.MC) chairman Emilio Botin has said that he is very happy with the bank's Italian investments, reports Dow Jones.
Santander has investments in Italian merchant bank Mediobanca SpA (MB.MI) and Europe's third-largest insurer, Assicurazioni Generali SpA (G.MI), as well as business operations in private banking and consumer credit.
'Generali is a very good company, Bernheim, its chairman, is fantastic,' Botin said, without commenting on the possible interest in Intesa Sanpaolo SpA's (ISP.MI) unit Banca Fideuram.
