Sandwich board equal to precast, tilt-up walls.

To address commercial construction professionals' pursuit of materials exhibiting higher performance and smaller dimensions than traditional solutions, Kingspan Insulation has introduced the premium Kooltherm K20 Concrete Sandwich Board. The rigid thermoset insulation offers a higher R-value per inch than any commonly used insulation, company engineers report, and is designed to enable thinner precast or tilt-up wall assemblies, helping to maximize building space.

"The demands on architects and construction engineers to get more out of their designs has put pressure on insulation suppliers to develop thinner materials that offer even more performance," says Kingspan Insulation North America Managing Director Alswinn Kieboom. "With Kooltherm K20, we have responded in full force. The product is easy to install, delivers outstanding performance and is already deployed in several projects around the country."

The core of the board embodies a fiber-free phenolic insulant manufactured with a blowing agent that has zero Ozone Depletion Potential and low Global Warming Potential--metrics cited in Environmental Product Declarations or Product Category Rules. It offers an R-value of 17 at 2 inches, fire and smoke performance, and is unaffected by air infiltration. Kooltherm K20 Concrete Sandwich Board is available in standard sizes or custom lengths, and R-values of 13.5 to 40.--Kingspan Insulation LLC, Atlanta, 678/589-7320;
