The Swedish high-tech engineering group Sandvik AB issued a brief statement on Tuesday (18 April) saying that it has decided to discontinue the cemented carbide inserts manufacturing operations at its plant in Fair Lawn in the US.

Sandvik said that the closure will be made to further utilise economies of scale in the global manufacturing concept.

The restructuring will not affect sales and marketing activities carried out from the Fair Lawn premises, but will still affect 100 employees.
