Sanderson to distribute Pearson.
"Pearson is well known in the industry for high-quality at a very competitive price, but the thing that stands out is their dedication to service," commented William Wagner, president of Sanderson North America. "We felt we wanted to offer our customers the opportunity to buy additional products, which also showcase our fabrics beautifully."
Wagner also revealed last week that the company is planning a major consumer advertising campaign this fall, in conjunction with Pearson, Stickley Furniture and WestPoint Stevens Home Fashions.
Sanderson ads will be appearing in House Beautiful, House & Garden, Southern Accents, Architectural Digest and Traditional Homes. "Our total advertising campaign will be in excess of half a million dollars," Wagner noted.
Joint Sanderson-Pearson ads will use Sanderson fabrics on Pearson furniture; the Sanderson-Stickley ads will focus on Sanderson's William Morris fabrics on Stickley furniture; and the ads with WestPoint Stevens will feature licensed Sanderson designs on WestPoint Stevens bedroom ensembles and accessories.
As part of the Pearson agreement, Sanderson will feature 33 pieces of Pearson furniture in its New York showroom at 979 Third Ave. The entire Pearson line--about 400 styles of furniture--will be available through a special-order catalog.
Prices vary depending on the frame and fabric selection. A Pearson sofa will retail for approximately $2,500 with customer's own material and a chair retails for about $1,500, also with the customer's own material.
The agreement was reported at decorator's workshop hosted by Sanderson and Pearson last week at the New York showroom. The workshop addressed common fabric problems and solutions for upholstered furniture.
