Sandals to open all-inclusive resort.
Among other amenities, it'll boast four gourmet restaurants, five bars, a nightclub, three swimming pools, three tennis courts, a fully equipped fitness center and spa, and an array of water sports including water-skiing, diving and sailing. Sandals already has 10 resorts--in the Bahamas, Antigua, Jamaica and St. Lucia--while a subsidiary, Beaches, runs an all-inclusive family resort in Varadero.
The Royal Hicacos is geared toward European tourists, with 7-night packages costing 1,299 [pounds sterling] per person; similar packages for Beaches Varadero start at 949 [pounds sterling] per person. The new resort is splashed all over Sandals' U.K. website at www.sandals.co.uk--but interestingly, not a word about it appears on the hotel chain's U.S. website at www.sandals.com. Details: Beaches Varadero, Carretera Las Morlas, Km. 14, Varadero, Cuba. Tel: +53 5 66-8470. Fax: +53 5 66-8544.
