San Francisco Chapter's IRS Night a Success; Scholarships Awarded.

The San Francisco Chapter was pleased to have acting District Director Peggy Rule and members of her staff attend its annual IRS Night at the World Trade Club on January 25. The IRS representatives also made presentations on current developments within the district.

Scholarships Awarded

The San Francisco Chapter has established an annual scholarship program beginning with the 1998-1999 academic year. Each year, the program will award two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing graduate degrees in taxation. Candidates who receive the scholarship must demonstrate academic excellence and must receive no financial assistance from an employer. The 1998-1999 recipients, Aletha Biedermann-Weins of California State University-Hayward and Scott Taylor of Golden Gate University, were recently honored at a chapter dinner event.
