Samuel Smith's Organic Ale.

Merchant du Vin has introduced two new Samuel Smith's brands, an organic ale and an organic lager. "Samuel Smith's Organic Ale is a delicately flavored golden ale in which subtle fruity esters interact with a background of maltiness and fresh hops," said Alan Shapiro, national sales manager for Merchant Du Vin. "The Organic Ale is reminiscent of the early 20th century brews not only in the brewing process and flavor but also in its old-style label design. Samuel Smith's Organic Lager is full-bodied with exceptional malt and hop character. Though a touch hoppier than many lagers, Organic Lager strikes a perfect balance with its fruity hop character and fragrance. "Shapiro reported that Samuel Smith's organic beers have received organic certification from the prestigious Soil Association, the UK's leading organization for organic food and farming. The Samuel Smith Old Brewery uses only Soil Association--certified, organically-grown malted barley and aromatic hops in the production of its organic beers. "We are very excited to introduce these award-winning beers to the U.S. market," stated Alan Shapiro, Merchant du Vin National Sales Manager. "Samuel Smith has been a leader in the specialty beer category in this country since its introduction in 1978. We are pleased once again to be at the forefront of another emerging category." Samuel Smith Organics are available in cases of 12-18.7 ounce "Yorkshire" pints.
