Samuel Adams begins brewing in Portland

Samuel Adams Boston Lager, brewed by the Boston Beer Co., has expanded its brewing locations to include Portland, OR. The product has been involved in test-brewing at Portland's Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Co. since May, 1989 where it took several months of preparation to produce the brew.

"Our decision to brew Samuel Adams in Portland will enable us to deliver the freshest possible beer to consumers in the Northwest and other states west of Denver," said Boston Beer Co.'s brewmaster Jim Koch. "By brewing here in Portland, we have become the largest brewer of craft beer in the Northwest. We will continue brewing in Boston, in Pennsylvania, as well as in West Germany for European distribution."
