Samsung unveils SUHD TV.

Korean technology firm recorded 42% market share for TV in January

Dubai -- Samsung Electronics has unveiled revolutionary SUHD TV at the Gitex Shopper Spring and its top official said the company will maintain its top ranking in TV segment this year.

"Samsung TVs led the market with 46 per cent share in 2014 in value terms and this year we are also on top so far," Vinod Nair, general manager of audio visual business at Samsung Gulf Electronics, told Khaleej Times during an interview at Gitex Shopper.

Quoting GfK data, Nair said Samsung has got 42 per cent market share in value. "We are the leader in UHD category as we had 65 per cent market share last year. We expect to continue the trend in this category and our latest innovation in SUHD TV will dominate the sales," he said.

"This is totally a new category, which we are launching at Gitex. Resolution-wise it's 4K resolution display and curved as well. The most important thing is the display technology. That's the reason we are trying to create a new category," he explained.

Making their regional debut at the Gitex Shopper, Samsung's SUHD TVs are designed to set a new standard in premium UHD content and elevate the viewing experience to new levels.

The innovative SUHD TV celebrates a major milestone in the UHD era. It surpasses the limitations of previous displays, delivering superior picture quality with stunning contrast, striking brightness and spectacular colour.

"Our heritage of innovation is what drives us to deliver unparalleled depth, sound and even feeling to consumers through our state-of-the-art TVs. This year, we have taken things to another level by breaking down the last barrier to a truly immersive viewing experience with the SUHD TV," Nair said.

"Our SUHD TV brings viewers closer to the story than they ever thought possible, and it does it in superb UHD detail. To watch a scene on, it is to live it, and we hope that it will bring many meaningful experiences to our customers in the Gulf region," he added.

Additionally, Samsung's SUHD TVs have a number of new and exciting features. Its SUHD re-mastering engine delivers an unrivaled viewing experience; its stylish curved design provides viewers with a more immersive viewing experience; and its Smart TV functions are now powered by Tizen, giving viewers easy access to their favorite content.

Samsung's platform, powered by Tizen, allows Samsung Smart TVs to become part of a much larger content ecosystem, facilitating easy collaboration with a number of partners for ultimate flexibility and unparalleled access.

Tizen's compatibility with other devices establishes Samsung's Smart TVs as the control centre of any Smart Home. Samsung's new Smart TV with Tizen sets the standard for future Smart TVs, redefining the entertainment experience.

New models are not available at the moment in the UAE, but Samsung has started pre-booking for 78-inch curved SUHD TV at Dh34,999 and it will be available by the end of April. Samsung's 88-inch SUHD TV is priced at Dh80,000.
