The book is a one-stop guide for anyone seeking to understand the fundamentals of color travel photography using a digital camera. The author is a renowned photographer who has traveled all over the world, as reflected by the photographs in the book. The first part of the book, entitled "Jumpstart Your Photography," summarizes the basics of travel photography. Part II, entitled "On Location," includes sections on how to photograph people, landscapes, captive animals, wildlife, seascapes, city life, and underwater subjects. Part III is a collection of photographs from Sammon's favorite travel locations, places where you are sure to find good subject matter for your photographs.

The book concentrates on what the author refers to as the first 50% of digital photography: capturing the image. The other 50 % involves digital darkroom editing (about which the author has written in two other publications). The photographs are exquisite. Prof. John Rosser, Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA
