Samaritans celebrate grant.

A CHARITY has received a PS4,000 grant to help with one of their projects.

Samaritans of Tyneside were awarded just under PS4,000 from Awards for All Big Lottery for a community project called Talking Helps - Samaritans in the Geordie Community.

The grant will support much-needed work in the local community and in particular with NHS Community Practices, ensuring that Samaritan contact information is available when needed.

In addition, the grant will allow the branch to buy much-needed equipment to support its work through schools, colleges, universities and community groups. During 2013, the Newcastle-based branch of Samaritans received just under 22,000 contacts via phone, email, text and face-to-face meetings.
