Sale of expired beverage in Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi -- Sale of unhygienic and expired edible food items particularly beverages goes unchecked in different markets of Rawalpindi which poses threat to public health.

Most of the edible items available at shops are expired and sold at higher rates. Health Department has not taken any step to stop the distribution and sale of expired edible items.

Citizens say with the advent of Ramazan, shopkeepers as well as distributors use to sale unhygienic expired items on higher rates. During the holy month of Ramazan every year, this illegal sale of expired items gains momentum and authorities do not take action against anyone, they added.

Citizens have stressed the need to launch a special campaign aimed at eliminating the distribution and sale of expired items during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.
