Sajeeda proves to be truly spectacular.

A SCHOOLGIRL in Cardiff has been named Spectacular Pupil of the Year 2006 by Specsavers Opticians.

Sajeeda Akther, nine, of Albany Primary School, fought off competition from school children across the Welsh capital to win the title.

Teachers across Cardiff were asked to nominate pupils who deserved recognition for all their hard work, continuous effort and motivation.

Sajeeda was nominated by teachers at her school. She has methylmalonic acidemia which is a protein deficiency and was first diagnosed when she was eight months old.

She needs a special frame for walking but takes part in all school activities, including dance, physical education and playtimes in the yard.
