Saints to hit spit row star with fine.
St Johnstone team-mates heard manager Paul Sturrock haranguing the player in the dressing-room later.
John McVeigh, assistant manager of Airdrie, said the incident with ex- Saints man John Davies happened in the first half of their 2-2 draw at McDiarmid Park.
He explained: "Davies told us he had been spat at. I was pleased that our players kept their cool.
"It's horrible, something that we're not used to in this country.''
Boss Sturrock was ill in bed yesterday but assistant John Blackley said: "This is still only an allegation but the manager certainly laid into the player after the game.
"If this is proved there will be tough internal discipline.
"St Johnstone Football Club will not tolerate such disgraceful behaviour.''
Sekerlioglu was replaced by Allan Preston 13 minutes from the end and he snatched the last-gasp equaliser.
As he walked off the pitch, Sekerlioglu shouted angrily at the Airdrie bench.
Although they could only manage a draw, off-form Saints still lead the First Division by 13 points.
