MANAMA: Three sailors were rescued by the Coastguard after their boat broke down at sea off Amwaj yesterday.Nabeel Ahmed and Mohammed Ali Jassim were rescued after their boat stopped one-and-a-half nautical miles east of Amwaj Islands.
They informed Coastguard personnel about the third sailor, Mohammed Ahmed Hassan, who went missing as he tried to repair the boat.
Mr Hassan, 28, was found half a nautical mile away from the boat with the help of a police aviation unit helicopter.
He was taken to Salmaniya Medical Complex and his condition was not life-threatening last night, according to an Interior Ministry source.
The Coastguard Commander said the case was reported at 1pm. The availability of communication devices on the boat helped the sailors to raise the alarm and for the Coastguard to locate the boat, he said.
