Sage keeps hitting the right notes.

Sage has enjoyed another successful year since the move to its global headquarters at Great North Park.

This signalled the start of the next phase of the company's growth as a leading provider of business management software to small and medium sized business and is further evidence of Sage's investment in the North-East.

The move has proved an extraordinary success, bringing all 1,200 of Sage's Newcastle-based employees under one roof to enjoy an outstanding working environment with state-of-the-art facilities including over 50 meeting rooms, gym, restaurant, coffee shop, free parking and bus service.

There have been a number of tangible benefits from the move including improved communication, better co-ordination of activities and a general sense of people coming together in their day-to-day work.

These benefits have manifested themselves in many ways. However, two particular highlights of the year include an incredible response to the company's first careers open day and a number of prestigious awards for Sage's customer service teams.

Careers Open Evening

As Sage continues to grow the business is constantly seeking to attract bright, motivated people who want to work for one of the region's, and country's, leading businesses.

With opportunities across a whole range of areas ( customer service, technical support, telesales, R&D and marketing ( a Careers Open Evening was held at Great North Park in April of this year.

The response was simply phenomenal with over 1,500 people from the region and further afield visiting Sage to find out more about the company and the opportunities that are on offer. The event combined tours of the building with opportunities to talk to people from across the business about life at Sage and employment prospects at the company.

It also helped dispel the perception you need to be a software expert to work at Sage and was a great opportunity to communicate the outstanding training and development programmes which are specifically designed to provide new employees with the knowledge they need to succeed at the company.

Award Winning Service

Sage is committed to providing world class customer service and as a result, at the end of September 2004, Sage Customer Support won `Best Customer Management Programme' and `Best Call Centre Environment' at the prestigious European Call Centre Awards in Birmingham.

Sage was also short-listed for the most prestigious award of all ( European Call Centre of the Year. This was the first year Sage has entered these awards and the company beat more than 340 other organisations.

Sage also proved its calibre of service at the North East Call Centre Awards, winning the Contact Centre of the Year, Outstanding Training and Skill Development Solution and Delivery of Outstanding Customer Service Awards.

The Sage Gateshead

Another highlight for Sage and the region as a whole was the opening of The Sage Gateshead. The Sage Group plc not only sponsored this international music centre but also provided free tickets for the entire opening weekend last December.

More than 15,000 people were welcomed through the doors of the building to enjoy wonderful performances from a host of exceptional artists playing all kinds of music.

The fact Sage has the naming rights in perpetuity means not only will the brand benefit from association with the building but it also provides a great opportunity for Sage to support the local community ( a community from which the business emerged and continues to thrive in.
