Sage Publications purchases Hodder Arnold titles and journals from Prime National Publishing.

Sage Publications (Thousand Oaks, CA) has finalized the purchase of two medical journals from Prime National Publishing Corp. (Weston, MA) and over 30 medical, health science, geography, history, linguistics, statistics, engineering and other journals from Hodder Arnold (London), a division of Hodder Education. No terms for either deal were given.

Sage has purchased "American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine" (AJHPM) and "American Journal of Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias" (AJADD) from Prime National Published six times a year, "AJHPM" is a forum for information related to the medical, administrative and psychological aspects of hospice care. "AJADD," also published monthly, is targeted to physicians, nurses, nursing home and assisted living administrators who care for and manage Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. An annual subscription costs An Annual subscription to either journal costs $183 for individuals and $277 for institutions.

Sage has also acquired Hodder Arnold's complete journal list, including 33 titles in a range of fields. The acquired journals include: Health Science titles "Chronic Respiratory Disease," "Clinical Rehabilitation," "Clinical Trials," "Human and Experimental Toxicology," "Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice," "Lupus," "Multiple Sclerosis," "Nursing Ethics," "Palliative Medicine," "Perfusion," "Toxicology and Industrial Health," "Trauma" and "Vascular Medicine Review"; Geography titles "Process in Humar Geography," "The Holocene," "Progress in Physical Geography," "Cultural Geography" and "Progress in Development Studies"; and, History titles "Cultural and Social History," "German History" and "War in History"; Linguistics titles "Child Language Teaching and Therapy," "Language Teaching Research," "Language Testing" and "Second Language Research."

The acquired assets also include: Statistics titles "Statistical Methods in Medical Research" and "Statistical Modeling"; Engineering titles "Building Services Engineering Research and Technology," "Lighting Research & Technology" and "Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control"; and, "Auto/Biography," "Law, Culture and the Humanities" and "Qualitative Research in Psychology."

Sage said that its ambitions to develop a global STM publishing program "are well under way. We have 63 STM titles, a small number in engineering and materials science and the rest in medical and life sciences." Sage has an existing portfolio of over 400 academic and professional journals.
