WanderGuard Departure Alert System

WanderGuard[R] leads the industry with more wanderer departure alert systems in facilities nationwide than any other system. The reasons are clear. WanderGuard products are designed with ease of use, reliability and cost-effectiveness in mind. Residents at risk for wandering wear a 90-day or 12-month signaling device on their wrists that transmits a signal to the WanderGuard unit. When a resident leaves a monitored area, an alarm sounds to alert caregivers that a resident has exited.

The WanderGuard departure alert system can be customized to the needs of each facility. We offer many options from the WanderGuard product line, including WanderGuard locks, the Catch-All[TM] nonselective door alarm, the patented Pre-Alert[TM] remote annunciator and paging to help provide resident security throughout your facility while providing managed freedom for residents. Wanderguard products are backed by the most comprehensive support programs and services, including training, installation, maintenance and ongoing customer support.

TABS Mobility Monitors and TABS Sidekicks

TABS[R] mobility monitors, the professional product for fall management, now give you even greater flexibility in selecting a monitoring method that works best for each of your residents. Choose between the familiar TABS easy cord and clip assembly or the new TABS Sidekicks-discreet chair and bed pressure pads. You can even use them together to alert you when a resident is leaving a bed, chair or wheelchair.

The TABS mobility monitor's alarm is triggered when the resident moves beyond the caregiver-defined safety zone, so staff are alerted when someone might be at risk of falling. In many cases, the alarm serves as a reminder to the resident to stay put until help arrives. With TABS Sidekicks pressure pads, the TABS alarm sounds when the resident moves from the pad. The TABS Sidekicks pressure pads and industry-leading TABS mobility monitors combine to make the most versatile and cost-effective fall monitoring system available.

WanderGuard Locks

You can count on Senior Technologies to provide additional security where you need it most. WanderGuard[R] delayed-egress magnetic locks combine life safety, security and cost-effectiveness to help you control any of your building's emergency exit and perimeter doors. WanderGuard locks can be integrated with the WanderGuard departure alert system to restrict only high-risk individuals from exiting while others exit unrestricted. The locks automatically engage when a resident wearing a signaling device approaches the monitored door. When the resident moves on, the lock releases. When the fire control panel is in alarm, the lock will automatically deactivate.

WanderGuard locks can also be used alone to secure emergency exit and perimeter doors at all times. WanderGuard locks meet NFPA 101 Life Safety Code[R] and most major building codes, and can be factory programmed for BOCA codes. WanderGuard locks must be installed in accordance with the authority having jurisdiction. A variety of models is available.

MODULAR MONITORING SYSTEM

The BedTender and ChairTender control units from Secure Care Products alert staff if a resident leaves a bed or chair, or becomes incontinent. Both control units activate automatically when a resident applies weight to the TenderPad. The ChairTender control unit runs on a 9-volt battery, and the BedTender is wall-mounted and powered electrically by a DC adapter.

The ultrathin TenderPad is plugged into the control unit and when a resident's weight is removed from the pad, an alarm will sound. To enhance this system, the Incontinent Sensor, which can be used with or without the TenderPad, will display a flashing "WET" when it comes in contact with moisture.

DECORATIVE HANDRAILS

DecoLink, a member of the C/S Group, introduces Acrovyn[R] Renaissance AW Series handrails. This line of economical wood handrails can reduce maintenance costs while enhancing the appearance of the facility and providing greater safety for residents. There are four models to choose from. The ash rails can be finished in natural, light oak, honey or cherry. Other wood species are also available.

A new combination handrail/leaning rail is especially designed for the resident who might have difficulty grasping traditional handrails. This model is offered with an optional vinyl bumper to provide additional safety.

ASSISTED LIVING EMERGENCY CALL SYSTEM

Code Alert's Quick Response Emergency Call System, QR4500, allows for resident independence while enabling users to summon help with the touch of a button. Designed especially for small assisted living facilities, the QR4500 supervises up to 16 transmitters.

A lightweight pendant or wall-mounted transmitter is touched to summon assistance. When the transmitter button is pressed, the receiver clearly displays the transmitter number, while the wall-mounted annunciator sounds an audible alarm. After an alarm has occurred, the system must be reset by staff at the resident's pendant or wall-mounted transmitter.

The wireless QR4500 system operates in the 900-MHz frequency band using advanced spread-spectrum technology. This system may be integrated with existing Wanderer Monitoring Systems.

BEDSIDE MAT

By using Skil-Care's full-size Soft-Fall Bedside Mat, caregivers can minimize the use of side rails while bedside protecting residents in an OBRA-approved manner. Made from 4[inches]-thick, high-density foam, the Soft-Fall Mat offers more impact-absorbing protection than standard mats. Specially sized to fit between the bed wheels, the Soft-Fall Mat, with its durable, wipe-clean vinyl cover, slips under the bed for convenient storage.

DEPARTURE WARNING ALARM

Senior Technologies' WanderGuard Pre-Alert remote annunciator sends a warning before a wanderer exits. The light panel displays a "condition yellow" and emits a discreet beep when a monitored resident is within range of a Wander-Guard-equipped door. When the monitored resident moves away from the door, the alarm stops. If there is a departure, the annunciator displays a "condition red" and goes into full alert. The alarm is reset at the exit, not at the remote annunciator. Each Pre-Alert annunciator can monitor four exits.

PORTABLE ALARM HOLDER

Personal Safety Corp. has introduced the Secure Alert-Mate Moveable Holder. Designed and tested with the help of DONs, this moveable holder enables staff to easily move the Alert-Mate Alarm from bed to chair and back. The durable holder is made of heavy-duty nylon with an extra-strength PVC backing. The Alert-Mate Moveable Holder can be securely positioned in seconds without tools.

SAFETY TESTING MANUAL

Home Safeguard Industries, Inc., manufacturer of fire-safety devices, has published an easy-to-understand product instruction manual. The manual does not simply list and describe items, but takes the reader through a step-by-step demonstration. The Home Safeguard Industries line includes the Smoke Detector Tester, Heat Detector Tester, Dustair and accessories.

ASSISTED LIVING EMERGENCY CALL

Three new products, Resident Check-In, Wireless Pendant Call, and Resident Information Display, have been introduced by Jeron Electronics Systems, Inc., for use in assisted living facilities.

Resident Check-In allows residents to register with the staff to verify their well-being. If a resident fails to register, his room number and the word "Check" will appear at the master station to alert staff to communicate with him. The Wireless Pendant enables a resident to summon help from anywhere in the apartment with the touch of a button, and the Resident Information Display instantly provides detailed personal records.

BED RAIL WITH POCKET

Ableware's Single AbleRise[TM] Bed Rail assists residents getting in and out of bed and helps prevent falls, while providing a convenient storage pocket for personal items. The bed rail features a comfortable-to-grasp handle that can be used for repositioning and turning in bed. The nonmetal rail eliminates the static shock that can occur with metal rails. Single AbleRise fits twin, full and queen-size beds. The Double AbleRise[TM] is installed on both sides of the bed.

MOBILITY MONITORS

Senior Technologies' TABS restraint-free mobility monitors sound an alarm when a resident leaves a bed, chair, room or wheelchair. The TABS alarm is triggered when the resident moves beyond the caregiver-defined safety zone, so that staff are alerted when someone is at risk of falling. In many cases the alarm serves as a reminder for the patient to stay put until help arrives.

The TABS Select and TABS Voice+ models provide distinct alarm tones and connect with most nurse-call systems. Add TABS Sidekick pressure pads for additional monitoring capabilities.

LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR LOCKING PRODUCTS

Securitron has announced the MagnaCare[TM] Lifetime Replacement Warranty program for any electronic-locking product the company manufactures. The product will be replaced for any reason, at any time - no questions asked. Even damage resulting from improper use and abuse of the product by the customer is included in the warranty.

The MagnaCare program is designed to be attractive to the architect, specifier and facility, because they will never have to repurchase or replace the product.

NONSELECTIVE DOOR ALARM

Catch-All[TM], WanderGuard's non-selective door alarm, is designed to be used in areas where complete traffic control is desired, or on low-traffic doors for added security. The alarm will sound whenever the door is opened. The Catch-All monitor can be used to monitor fire exits, stairwells, employee entrances and other doors that require higher security levels.

DELAYED-EGRESS LOCKS

Senior Technologies introduces WanderGuard delayed-egress magnetic locks that meet National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Code 101 requirements. These locks can be integrated with a departure alert system to restrict only high-risk individuals from exiting while staff and visitors can come and go freely. As self-contained units that use existing door exit and latching hardware, the locks contain no moving parts, run cooler and use less current than other locks.

EXIT ALARM

Secure Care Products' Advantage 1000 DE Exit Panel is two systems for the price of one. It can operate as a "smartloc" system, i.e., unlocked for normal traffic flow and locking only when a monitored wandering resident approaches the door. It can also perform a variety of perimeter alarm and access control functions by becoming a locked door during facility-selected hours and setting off an alarm if an unauthorized entry or exit occurs.

NURSE CALL SYSTEM

The Pro-Alert[TM] 640 Audio-Visual Nurse Call System from Jeron Electronic Systems, Inc., provides a total communication package that responds instantly to residents' needs. Calls are placed on the system by pressing a button or pulling a cord. All calls are displayed on the nurse master LED panel, while the LCD displays the highest and oldest call in English text. Each call is prioritized by time and type of call. The system distinguishes three priority levels: Routine, Urgent and Emergency.

Among the options that extend the versatility of the Pro-Alert 640 Nurse Call System are the Radio Pocket Page, which allows staff to instantly receive messages from anywhere in the facility, and the Omnilink[TM] Telephone Interface, which connects any facility phone to the Pro-Alert 640 so staff can to respond to patient calls while remaining mobile.

LAP CUSHION

Skil-Care's new Lift-Off Lap Cushion self-releases as the resident rises from the wheelchair. Like standard lap cushions, it offers a convenient surface on which to rest hands, place personal items, or work on projects. Foam padded for comfort, vinyl covered for wipe-clean care and easy to install, the Lift-Off Lap Cushion fits all full-arm, 16- and 18-inch wheelchairs.

VIDEO DOOR-ANSWERING SYSTEM

The Aiphone color Video Sentry Tilt system features a tilt camera that moves 40 [degrees] up or down to provide a better view of an entrance. The system also includes an electronic chime, Instant-On reception, built-in automatic illuminator LEDs, high-contrast TFT color monitor and more. When the chime sounds, the Instant-On feature allows you to hear and see the visitor before picking up the handset.

Easy to install, the Video Sentry Tilt includes a door station camera, a room station monitor with handset, and a 24V DC power supply.
