Safety and security exhibition opens.
DUBAI -- Shaikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by senior officials from the Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police, Dubai Police Academy as well as the German Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, inaugurated the 15th edition of Intersec 2013 on Tuesday.
Intersec is the region's premier business and networking event for safety, security and policing, and the exhibit opened at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
He also visited the Dubai Police and the Dubai Civil Defence pavilion. Intersec, this year, features ten of the world's top security companies. This year 990 exhibitors, from 54 countries, participated in Intersec that features over 100 first-time exhibitors - companies looking to bring hi-tech products to the regional market.
Shaikh Mansour also inaugurated the 4th UAE International Firefighters' Challenge that is taking place alongside the main event.
The exhibition floor features the latest security products on the global market by leading international manufacturers and suppliers. The first day of Intersec also featured two conferences which drew wide-spread participation -- The Fire Safety Standards and Regulations Forum and the International Water Mist Association Seminar.
Aviation Security will be the focus of the forum today, while the Department of Protective Systems and the Dubai Police will discuss the various aspects of migrating from analogue to digital surveillance systems on the final day (January 17), at a conference held in conjunction with Tavcom.
Surveillance euipment on display will include, transmission gear, access control, mechanical security systems and devices, intruder and burglary detection and alarm equipment, house and building automation for security applications, internet security.
