ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Sept. 26, 2001

SafeGuard Health Enterprises, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SFGD), one of the nation's oldest and premier managed dental care companies, today announced that its website has been enhanced to provide online enrollment and extensive information on individual dental plans to individuals in parts of Southern California, Florida and Texas. The Company also announced that it would be adding a similar enhancement for individual vision plans in the near future.

The new program contains many user-friendly features, including payment options using a credit card, check or bank draft. In addition, selecting a quality provider is easy due to a feature that provides a list of participating dentists located in close proximity to the area code provided by the individual.

James E. Buncher, SafeGuard's president and chief executive officer, said, "SafeGuard has been providing managing dental benefits to thousands of members for over twenty-five years and individual dental plans have been available for over ten years. With the increasing number of people using the Internet, we felt it would be an added value to individuals to go online, research the various options available to them, and even enroll in a plan. In addition, they can set up payment for plans on our website,, any time, day or night, at the customer's convenience. This is yet another example of our success in fulfilling our company-wide initiative of continuously improving service and making SafeGuard the leader for service in its industry. Even though we will still have a trained staff ready to help our customers with their needs, we feel this will give our members a comprehensive option that they will find easy, informative, and convenient."

SafeGuard provides managed care dental plans, PPO/indemnity dental plans, vision benefit plans, administrative services, and preferred provider organization services. The Company serves approximately 700,000 members, primarily in California, Florida and Texas.
