Look how many calories you'll burn if you leave the car and get on your bike . . .
Gentle cycling: four calories a minute.
Moderate cycling: six calories.
Racing cycling: 11 calories.
If you can't go by bike, try toning your bottom with the easy exercises on the right, which you should do EVERY OTHER DAY.

Everybody should eat eggs. They are a wonderfully balanced element in
your diet. Eggs have
had a bad press due to
the cholesterol scare, but they are complete powerhouses of nutrition
which help your looks, too. My favourite is a two-egg Spanish omelette full of spicy peppers . . . only 250 calories.
LOW in saturated fat ONLY 80 calories each
HIGH in vitamin B12 for the nervous system
HIGH in protein (6-8g per egg)
Eggs contain CYSTEINE, a vital amino acid which is good for your hair.
What can I eat after I've been to my Keep Fit class? I have my tea about two hours before to give me energy, but by nine o'clock I am starving. I am afraid to eat late because it makes you fat, and I must lose a stone. Angela, Derby.
Dear Angela Eating late does not make
you fat, especially if you have been exercising quite vigorously. Your body will be like a furnace, and as long as you do not pile into a steak and two veg you will be fine. Have a bowl of cereal with sliced apple or banana, or wholemeal toast and honey, or a jacket potato. You need something filling to see you through the night or you will wake up with a "hangover" feeling, which is a symptom of low blood sugar. Incidentally, it would be better to eat a lighter meal before you exercise, and make it three hours before, not two.
This exercise works the large buttock muscle, but must be done with care.
Take position on all fours, as shown. Stretch out your left leg so your toe is pointing to the floor.
Slowly lift your leg and hold for three seconds. Return to floor. Do eight lifts (or as many as you can manage). Change legs.
Stretch out your bottom muscles by lying flat with your right foot on the floor. Place the left foot across the opposite thigh (not the knee joint). Lift your right foot a few inches off the floor until you can feel a stretch in your buttock muscles. Hold for 10 seconds. Change legs.
