Sad sign of times.
THE DECISION to ground Santa's flight to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Hospital, Crumlin, is a low blow. The visit is not a public relations exercise but a vital training exercise.
The Air Corps could be called upon at any time of the day or night to fly and transport a sick child or even a donated organ in order to save a life.
As a result, the pilots practise and familiarise themselves with the hospital, so in an emergency they can land at the hospital as quickly as is safe.
