Sabot Publishing sold to new co. formed by Wind Point Partners.
Active Interest Media, a new company formed by former Times Mirror Magazines ceo Efrem Zimbalist III and Wind Point Partners (Chicago, IL), has acquired enthusiast media company Sabot Publishing (Richmond, VA). No terms were given. Sabot was represented by Jordan, Edmiston Group (New York).Established in 1999 by James Causey and Colonnade Capital, Sabot produces a line of specialty niche publications, including Southwest Art, Vegetarian Times, Log Home Design Ideas and Better Nutrition. The deal also includes Sabot units The Garlinghouse Co., a producer of home plans and magazines, and Black Belt Communciations, a publisher of magazines, books and videos for the martial arts market.
Wind Point said it has initially committed $40 million in capital to Active Interest Media and will consider up to $90 million in investments.
