SYNTREX TECHNOLOGIES CREATES NETWORK MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT CENTER
 AND REALIGNS OPERATIONS
EATONTOWN, N.J., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Syntrex Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Phoenix Technologies and a leading network systems integrator, announced today the establishment of a Network Management and Support Center (NMSC), expanding their suite of network services to include remote network management and administration. The NMSC will be staffed by engineers from Syntrex's Network Engineering and Design Center (NEDC), who will have the capability to remotely manage customers' networks on a 24-hour-a-day basis.
Syntrex also announced it will consolidate selected corporate functions into its parent company, Phoenix Technologies, Inc. headquarters, located in Valley Forge, Pa. The creation of the NMSC and the overall realignment of Syntrex's operations are intended to enhance Syntrex's competitive position, grow its revenue base and maximize profitability.
The NMSC will provide nationwide coverage to companies with multi- site, distributed computing environments. It will offer 24-hour-a-day telephone support; remote diagnostics and local dispatch service; network performance monitoring; and remote network management. The NMSC's sophisticated on-site network laboratories, which incorporate the latest network technology and state-of-the-art network products, allow network certified engineers to simulate most network configurations. These span single site networks to complexes of distributed, wide area networks (WANs) located in multiple sites anywhere in the country.
Syntrex expects the NMSC to be fully operational once NEDC and marketing personnel are relocated to new facilities within the Monmouth County, N.J. area. The move is part of the strategic consolidation of selected Syntrex operations into its parent organization, Phoenix Technologies, which is intended to reduce costs and maximize profitability. The NMSC is expected to be fully functional in early 1993 following the consolidation of operations.
The NMSC expands Syntrex's comprehensive professional network support offerings. These include 24-hour-a-day telephone support programs; a distributed technical Bulletin Board Service (BBS) offering access on a 24-hour basis via local telephone dial-in; technical documentation; Network Operating System (NOS) subscription services and on-site network performance analysis. Syntrex has recently expanded its network support offerings into the Application Services arena, and is the first to integrate and support Lotus Development Corporation's Lotus Notes:Document Imaging(TM) product. The company was recently named to Novell, Inc.'s Alliance Program, the highest level of recognition for the largest network and systems integrators.
Syntrex Technologies, Inc., is a national network systems integrator specializing in the design, implementation, and support of networks for the commercial, government, and legal industries. Located in Eatontown, Syntrex has installed over 6,500 networks in the United States, with particular emphasis upon departmental and enterprise-wide networks.
