 SYNTELLECT INKS OEM AGREEMENT WITH ALCATEL BUSINESS SYSTEMS
 World Technology Leaders Join Hands
 to Provide Telecommunications Solution
 PHOENIX, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Syntellect Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNL), interactive voice response (IVR) leader, today announced an OEM agreement with Alcatel Business Systems, which is headquartered in Austria. Alcatel, the world's largest telecommunications company, will provide Syntellect's INFOBOT(R) family of IVR products as part of its worldwide telecommunications offering.
 This agreement entitles Alcatel to distribute Syntellect voice- response products in several countries, among them Australia, Germany, France and Austria. Syntellect anticipates the agreement, which initially spans three years, to produce in excess of $10 million in revenue from key European Community countries. Firm purchase agreements have already been signed with Austria, Australia and France. The remainder are forecasted to be signed by no later than September.

"The combination of our innovative, global products coupled with Alcatel's product and distribution resources will ensure a robust and comprehensive customer offering."

 The Alcatel Business Systems agreement is the latest in a list of recent Syntellect international achievements including winning the United States president's "E" Award for excellence in exporting, signing two significant Japanese distributors, closing major deals with several of Hong Kong's largest banks, signing a major South African distributor and opening new direct offices in London and Hong Kong. Syntellect's products are sold in over 35 countries, speaking 20 languages including French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Arabic.
