SYNTELLECT ANNOUNCES EXPECTED LOSS FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER AND YEAR

PHOENIX, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Syntellect Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNL) today announced that it expects to report losses for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 31, 1993. Results for the fourth quarter were impacted by revenue shortfalls and restructuring charges. In addition, the company announced that it expects to significantly increase its reserve levels. The amount of the increase and its reserve level has not yet been determined.
Thomas R. Mayer, chairman, president and chief executive officer said, "Although our new product introductions of VocalPoint and Premier 030 are being well received by the market, total revenues were disappointing for the fourth quarter. However, we see significant opportunities for our products and anticipate revenue growth in 1994."
Mr. Mayer added, "The restructuring will position the company to realize key product development goals within a more cost effective operational structure. Through the combination of a more cost effective operating structure and expected growth in revenues from its VocalPoint and Premier 030 products, we should begin to see income from operations in the second half of 1994. "
