SYNERCOM ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION

 HOUSTON, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Synercom Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: SYNR) announced today that the company, through a newly formed subsidiary, purchased assets and assumed certain liabilities of EG&G-Wakefield Engineering, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of EG&G, Inc. Wakefield Engineering is a leader in the design, manufacture and sale of thermal management products and metal fabrications. Harry Chase, former general manager of EG&G subsidiary, has been named president of the newly formed subsidiary, Wakefield Engineering, Inc. Operating as an independent subsidiary of Synercom, Wakefield intends to expand the product offerings and market presence of this established thermal management business and to accelerate its growth in international markets.
 Prior to this acquisition, Synercom's principal business was as a supplier of cost-effective solutions for utility operations worldwide in the management of their work processes and related facilities and resources. Synercom common stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol SYNR.
