SYMIX SYSTEMS, INC. REPORTS RESULTS FOR THE FIRST QUARTER

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Symix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: SYMX) today announced results for the three months ended Sept. 30, 1993. Net revenue for the quarter was $7.9 million, unchanged from the comparable quarter of the prior year, while net income was $82,000 (or $0.03 per share) compared to $628,000 (or $0.22 per share) in 1992.
Larry J. Fox, Symix's chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "The reduction in the company's profitability from the prior year was consistent with anticipated results. We continue to be impacted by a weakened manufacturing sector of the economy. In addition, our cost structures increased during the year as we made investments in our product as well as our sales and distribution channels for both domestic and international markets. Unfortunately, we have not yet realized the full benefit of these investments. We continue to be committed to our strategic initiatives and believe they will generate improved positive results during 1994. In the mean time, we are actively monitoring all expenditures in an effort to control costs while maximizing the productivity of any on-going investments."
Symix Systems, Inc. designs, develops, markets and supports SYMIX, a fully integrated manufacturing planning and control software system, with more than 1,500 manufacturing installations worldwide. The SYMIX application is written in the PROGRESS integrated application environment, which consists of the PROGRESS Fourth Generation Language (4GL) and the PROGRESS Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
SYMIX is highly portable and operates across a wide range of computers operating systems and networking protocols, including distributed client-server computing environments. Founded in 1979, Symix Systems has 34 offices and more than 100 distributors worldwide.
