MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Symetrics Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMT) has been awarded an additional $4.83 million on its Improved Data Modem (IDM) contract with the Air Force. This increases Symetrics' backlog to over $12.5 million -- a company record.
As part of the award, the Air Force exercised an option for 153 IDMs bringing the total to 341 now under contract. Also, Symetrics received funding to incorporate performance enhancements in 100 IDMs being built by the government as part of the development and initial production programs.
The Air Force anticipates the five year production contract with Symetrics will surpass the initial estimate of $41 million, since the projected quantity has increased from 1,645 to over 3,000 IDMs. It is anticipated that additional options will be exercised by the Air Force and released to Symetrics over the next six months.
