BOHEMIA, N.Y., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Symbol Technologies Inc. (NYSE: SBL), world leader in bar code-driven data transaction systems, today announced that Tomo Razmilovic has been named senior vice president, Worldwide Sales.
Razmilovic, who since 1989 has held the post of senior vice president, International Operations for Symbol, will take on the additional title with responsibilities expanded to include all sales and service functions worldwide. Based at the company's Bohemia headquarters, he will continue to report to Raymond R. Martino, president and chief operating officer.
"Tomo's leadership has been instrumental in Symbol's international sales growth for the last several years. In 1992, European revenues expanded by approximately 30 percent," Martino said. "His depth of experience in the computer systems industry and proven ability to build a solid team of sales professionals and business partners have been of particular importance to our successes in Europe. Among his accomplishments were the establishment of a new subsidiary operation in Spain and marketing alliances with IBM, Siemens-Nixdorf and ICL.
"In his expanded role, Tomo's international experience will be of great value as Symbol looks to address the challenges of an increasingly global market. Many of our customers and business partners are multinational in scope and demand global solutions from their technology suppliers. Tomo's appointment will help us meet these demands."
Razmilovic, 50, joined Symbol in 1989 from Cominvest Group, a Swedish multinational high technology company, where he was president and chief executive officer. He earlier was president of ICL Europe and president of ICL International, a wholly owned subsidiary of ICL Ltd., the major U.K.-based computer systems supplier. His career began with Ericsson, a Swedish electronics and telecommunications company, and additionally included tenures with Prime Computer, where he held the posts of vice president, CAD/CAM Marketing, and managing director for Scandinavia, and Control Data Corporation.
