SYMANTEC RECEIVES CLEARANCE TO ACQUIRE FIFTH GENERATION

CUPERTINO, Calif., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) announced today that it has received clearance from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice to proceed with the acquisition of Fifth Generation Systems Inc. The acquisition is a pooling of interests in which Symantec will issue approximately 2.8 million shares of its common stock for the current outstanding shares of Fifth Generation's stock.
