"In addition, new support for high capacity hard disks, plus an Advanced Recovery Mode, provides our customers with unparalleled data recovery protection."
 Special DOS 6.0 Support
The Norton Utilities 7.0 completely supports the new DOS 6.0 memory manager and the compressed drive format. With Speed Disk, users can defragment files for faster disk access and improved data recovery, increasing the productivity and system speed on DOS6.0 compressed drives. Norton Disk Doctor recovers and automatically repairs data from damaged DOS 6.0 compressed files and provides early detection of media defects to prevent data loss. Norton Utilities DOS 6.0 support uniquely provides data recovery, protection and optimization of compressed data.
Norton Utilities 7.0 Advantages For Dos 6.0 Users
Norton Utilities 7.0 not only leverages DOS 6.0 features, but also offers several advantages and features not available in DOS 6.0. Norton Utilities 7.0 provides comprehensive hardware diagnostics, repair and optimization for DoubleSpace, Stacker, SuperStor and SuperStor Pro drives as well as high capacity hard drives. Norton Utilities 7.0 repairs corrupted application files such as dBase, Excel, Quattro Pro, Lotus 1-2-3 and WordPerfect. Automatic data recovery, file system repair, an advanced recovery mode and an easy-to-use menu driven UnErase supporting larger files are also available in Norton Utilities 7.0.
 New Features
 Powerful Hardware Diagnostics
The Norton Utilities combines detailed hardware diagnostics with award-winning data recovery for complete system analysis and protection. Norton Utilities is the only PC utilities package available to completely test hardware and data for hidden problems. With hardware diagnostics, users can identify faulty and unstable system hardware components, preventing unexpected and intermittent failures or potential data loss.
Norton Utilities runs system board tests, CMOS and memory tests. It checks floppy and hard disk drives, video components, mouse, speaker and keyboard. Serial and Parallel Port Testing provide internal and external registers, as well as advanced testing with optional loop-back connectors.
Unique Support for High Capacity Drives
Norton Utilities can now repair and optimize disks 10 times larger, up to 2 gigabytes, than Norton Utilities 6.01. Speed Disk quickly defragments virtually any size hard disk for improved file access times and data recovery. File Fix, Norton Utilities' file recovery program, now retrieves large-size files, and Norton Disk Doctor offers large disk support using XMS and EMS memory.
 Unique Stacker and SuperStor Support
In addition to supporting DOS 6.0 compressed drives, Norton Utilities is also 100 percent compatible with disks compressed with Stacker, SuperStor and SuperStor Pro. The Norton Disk Doctor and Speed Disk can be used to perform system repair, data recovery and optimization on Stacker, SuperStor and SuperStor Pro compressed volumes as well as normal drives.
 Advanced Data Recovery and Protection
Norton Utilities 7.0 offers a complete set of advanced data protection and recovery tools to keep computer systems running smoothly. Advanced Disk Editor, a flexible disk exploration and repair tool, includes a new built-in Advanced Recovery Mode that enables a user to view disks with virtual parameters, making it possible to recover data from physically damaged disks as well as repairing logical disk corruption. Data recovery is also possible on crashed drives that are inaccessible by other disk editors.
The Norton Advise recommends solutions and fixes for more than 115 popular problems common to DOS and popular applications such as Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, Quattro Pro, dBase and WordPerfect. File Fix repairs spreadsheet, database and other application files, including special routines to repair Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, Quattro Pro, dBase and WordPerfect files.
 The NDOS Advantage
Norton Utilities' NDOS provides essential DOS improvements while actually reducing the amount of memory DOS requires. It makes using DOS faster and easier and provides tools for creating more powerful batch files.
NDOS' features include pop-up history windows for easy access to previous commands and color enhanced directory listings. NDOS' enhanced COPY, DEL and MOVE commands lets the user handle complex file management tasks. Enhanced wildcards ease file selection with multiple wildcard characters, and character lists and ranges.
NDOS features file name descriptions up to 40 characters for easier file location and over 200 command line options. NDOS is compatible with MS-DOS, DR DOS and Windows and includes full support for DOS 5.0 and 6.0 memory

management, commands and switches.
 Additional Features
Norton Utilities offers advanced network support, including data recovery and repair on network drives. Network File UnErase enables file recovery on network drives that are safeguarded with SmartCan. File Fix repairs spreadsheet, database and other application files on networks. The new DupDisk feature provides convenient single pass disk copy.
Two additional recovery tools available in Norton Utilities are Enhanced Emergency Disk and Enhanced Rescue Disk. The emergency disk contains disaster recovery utilities that automatically provide access to crashed systems even when DOS has been damaged or deleted.
