 COMPETITIVE UPGRADE
INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT AND DEBUGGING ENVIRONMENT (IDDE)
Designed by programmers for programmers, Symantec C++ contains a breakthrough integrated development and debugging environment (IDDE) . The IDDE includes fully integrated debugging, based on the award-winning MultiScope technologies. In addition, the IDDE uses an open desktop architecture that provides programmers with multiple independent views without the confines of a Multiple Document Interface. New drag-and-drop capabilities enable programmers to automate over 30 different programming activities by simply dragging from one view to another. Symantec C++ also includes team programming support through an integrated graphical user interface for PVCS, the leading version control system.
 HIGH PERFORMANCE 16- AND 32-BIT COMPILER/FULL WIN32S
 SUPPORT
Symantec C++ supports both 16- and 32-bit code generation for Windows and DOS with a high-performance one-pass native C++ compiler. Included is a full set of global, local and object-oriented optimizations that significantly increase application performance. In addition, Symantec C++ Professional 6.0 is the only development system that lets developers build Win32s applications from within Windows 3.1. The Microsoft Foundation Class Libraries (MFC) 2.0 are also included to allow programmers to take advantage of reusable C++ components when developing Windows-based C++ applications. Symantec C++ 6.0 is also highly compatible with Microsoft's languages and operating systems at source, object file, DLL, and debug levels. Microsoft users can easily port their code to Symantec C++ and take advantage of productivity and performance gains.
 ADVANCED VISUAL TOOLS
Symantec C++ includes Visual Programmer for MFC C++, created by Blue Sky Software. Visual Programmer is a complete visual prototyping tool with a MFC code generation add-on system built to only work with Symantec C++. Developed by Blue Sky Software, the vendor of popular visual development tools such as RoboHELP, Visual Programmer allows users to visually design an application on screen, test functionality, and subsequently generate MFC code exclusively for Symantec C++. Visual Programmer is completely integrated with the IDDE, providing a powerful and seamless visual development environment. Visual Programmer is built on the same technology as Blue Sky's forthcoming Visual Prototyper product.
"If you are a Microsoft Visual C++ user, you will love the environment in Symantec C++," said Jorgen Lien, Blue Sky's president. "The Blue Sky visual programming technology provides a faster and more productive environment."
 OPTLINK 4.0 INCLUDED
Symantec C++ also includes an enhanced version of SLR System's OPTLINK version 4.0. OPTLINK is the industry's fastest linker, performing up to twenty times faster than the linkers included in Borland and Microsoft products. This version of OPTLINK is fully integrated into the IDDE and is included in Symantec C++ at no additional charge.
